How to Search the Text in Screenshots on iPhone

By Srikanth V ·

Short answer

In the Photos app, tap Search and type a word that appears in the screenshot; Photos finds text it has recognised. To search screenshots, photos and PDFs together and copy all their text at once, use Lookpix.

Search text in the Photos app

Photos recognises text in your pictures over time, so very new screenshots may take a while to show up.

  1. 1Open Photos and tap Search.
  2. 2Type a word you remember from the screenshot, such as a name or a number.
  3. 3Open the result, then touch and hold the text to select and copy it (Live Text).

Search screenshots, photos and PDFs with Lookpix

Lookpix reads the text in every local photo, screenshot and document on your iPhone, newest first, and keeps going in the background. Search for any word and the results show the line it was found in.

Copy Text copies everything Lookpix read from a picture in one tap. Bills, tickets and ID documents are recognised and gathered in Important Documents, with IDs kept behind Face ID.

Lookpix reads English text. Other scripts, such as Hindi or Tamil, aren't read yet.

  1. 1Allow Photos in Lookpix and let it read your library.
  2. 2Search for a word, like “wifi” or “grand total”.
  3. 3Open the result and tap Copy Text, or select a single line with Live Text.

Stop scrolling. Start finding.

Search, sort and clean up everything on your iPhone. Free to start, and nothing leaves your phone.
